Divinum Demo vs Full Game
What the still-listed Steam demo covers, and what you only get after 28 August 2026.
The Steam page for Divinum still listed a demo after the 28 August 2026 launch. That is unusual for a $14.99 premium title and useful: several launch reviews told people to try the slice, then buy. This page is the honest split between the free download and the shipped campaign. Confirm the live store button yourself; this wiki is unofficial.
If you already own the full game, you can skip to getting started. If you are deciding, stay.
What the demo actually is
Official Steam news (November 2025, then the 0.39.1 Next Fest update in February 2026) described the demo as:
- a story prologue, and
- a mid-game combat slice with a wide variety of enemies, abilities, and a major mechanic, including challenge rooms.
Playtest and demo videos split those halves in practice. One session teaches Fjør, the HUD, and the island tone. The other drops you into denser fights and gated arenas players called things like The Ultimate Test. A long Spanish full-demo recording even chapters named story elites such as Varrok, Klyssa, The Deathspeaker, and Elite Sentinel of Soulfire. Treat those names as demo-visible, not as a promise that 1.0 adds nothing else.
The official mini-trailer embedded mid-page is the Next Fest demo-update clip from the Divinum channel. It is a feel check, not a 1.0 trailer. The longer gameplay trailer lives on the home page and in launch notes.
QoL that arrived in demo 0.39.1 and shipped
You should assume the full game includes the late-demo quality-of-life, because launch guides already speak this language:
- dedicated map button (default Tab / Select)
- combo counter
- Sanctite magnet
- life and mana shard counts on the rune menu
- a shop that can show more items at once
- a wider normal block window, with a heavy stun if that block spends your last mana
- a grounded alternate uppercut from a quick tap of up+attack
If a 2025 video complains that the map is buried or Sanctite is tedious to vacuum, it is outdated. Controls and collectibles assume the new rules.
What the full game adds
The $14.99 campaign (introductory Steam discount ran at −10% into mid-September 2026, list price $14.99) is the rest of the northern island: more biomes, more ancestral Runes, more mana skills, more named bosses, Steam Cloud, and the full set of 45 achievements. Production copy during development talked about roughly 25 Runes and 12 skills found through secrets, bosses, and trials. A demo cannot contain that whole tree.
Also exclusive to the paid game in practice:
- the complete story past the prologue
- the post-prologue shop and shard routing that map exploration is written for
- the launch-week collision bugs you will actually live with (ledge clip, odd traps) — documented in launch notes
- Steam Deck Verified play of the whole campaign, not just the slice (Steam Deck)
The official site still lists consoles as a later platform. That is not a demo feature and not a shipped SKU.
Should you demo first?
Yes, if you have never played a 2D character-action game, your hands hate dense strings, or you want to know whether “no contact damage, only telegraphs” clicks. The demo is the whole argument of the mixed Steam reviews: combat is the star, optional rooms hurt, collision can glitch.
Buy without the demo if you already sank hours into the Next Fest slice, you trust spectacle-fighter combat, and $13–15 is not a debate. Launch-week Steam sentiment was Positive (97% of 45 user reviews on the store snapshot we checked after launch). That is a small sample. It is still the real number.
Wait if you need a numbered patch for the ledge clip. As of 29 August 2026 the Steam news hub still showed only the launch-day “Divinum is OUT NOW!” post. No 1.0.x patch notes had been published. Bug fixing is item one on the roadmap.
Demo saves versus full saves
Do not assume a demo save continues. Always check Steam’s wording on the live page. Play the demo to learn muscle memory, then start a full-game file so shard counts and story flags are honest. Cloud saves exist on the full product.
How this wiki uses demo footage
Several guide videos are still demo or playtest recordings because the game is days old and no complete 1.0 walkthrough exists yet. We label them. A demo boss is still a real boss. A demo inventory is not the 100% list. When a full-campaign walkthrough appears, guides will point at it. Until then, the demo is a teacher, and the island after the prologue is the exam.
Next step after the slice: getting started for the paid campaign, then combat combos before you spend your first full-game Sanctite.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is the Divinum demo still available after launch?
Yes — the Steam store still listed it at launch. Use it as a combat test, then read demo vs full before you buy.
Does the demo include the whole island?
No. Official notes describe a story prologue plus a mid-game combat slice. The $14.99 campaign is the rest.
Should I wait for a patch before buying?
Only if the ledge-clip bug would ruin the game for you. As of 29 August 2026 no numbered patch had posted. See launch notes.
